I'll start in the same component the game starts with: the intro. A zoom into a low-res bitmap? Plain yellow text? No sound at all? Clearly, this game must have been made by a child or a person with no aesthetical feeling! It almost discouraged me from playing the game...
But I'm glad it didn't.
Yep, this was a very interesting experience. After few minutes, I realized that the lack of your artistic skills is irrelevant as it didn't stand in your way of expressing a point. This is something I really liked about this game. You've managed to make a fine example of using games as an expressive medium and I tip my hat to you for that. What I didn't like on the other hand, is how you forced this point into the player. I mean: taking bible quotes out of their context, thus giving them a different meaning? That's not cool man. This fairly resembles manipulation, and I don't like being manipulated.
Still, I really liked the narrating via gameplay and I give you 3 stars for it.

AAAAAAaaaah I've waited so long for ep. 2 to come out! And it certainly didn't dissapoint!
New graphics and locations are stylish! (although I miss the dungeon setting). New mechanics are witty and star rating sets the difficulty to be adequate for everyone!
I haven't finished the whole game yet and I already can't wait for ep. 3 to come out :D
Great job you guys did with this game, seriously you won all my stars!

There's just one issue I stumbled upon so far: You get the Golden Star when you finish a level with "these tools left". You should make it so it's with "at least these tools left"
For example, when I finished "Uh oh, no loot bags..." I had 3 one-way gates left and got only silver star. I had to play the level again and place the gate to a random pointless spot in order to get the Golden one.

jinxology responds:

You probably got a platinum star on that level if you had more tools leftover, rather than a silver. Glad you are enjoying it :D

Does it mean we're all *gasp* living in the system right now?? :O

I liked it, it was simple but very original and innovative in more aspects :)
Someone might think the settings were childish but I liked it, especially how it was voice-acted :P

The only thing that dissapointed me is the unability to save progress, I've never finished the game, since I had to left once I was very close and now I don't feel like playing it again

:-\

Well, the game wasn't bad, but it completely lacks any kind of originality.
I mean, there wasn't absolutely anything that even tried to be new. If somebody tried to count games that are exactly like this one, he could not sucseed. Hell I could name a few right from the spot!
You didn't spent much time on graphics either. A few black shapes here and there, the same music everywhere... And every location looks absolutely the same! You changed background color from time to time, but that's about it.

C'mon, you can do better, I feel it :|

This is one of the best games I've played on newgrounds ever. You seriously did an awesome job on this dude! I love everything about it, graphics, dialogues, battle system, inventory...
And the game lenght... I love you! I've never spent so much hours behind a flash game, and it was FUN all the time!
Thank you for making this.

Simple, but I loved it :)

That... was... just... AWESOME! The game has great combination of interactive storytelling, funny humor and awesome graphics. This has to be one of my favourite newground submisions!

Beatiful graphics! I liked it.
Btw, there's a bug: I was about to brew the amulet, I've put the flower inside the pot, but then I realized I sold drunkards hair. I went back to the vendor and bought it back, but when I tried to finish the potion, I couldn't, and I had to restart the game and start over.
What's the reason for selling stuff anyway? I don't recall there was a need for selling anything at all :-/

"""

Hmm, the game itself was very addictive and fun to play, but there are just some things that decrease its quallity greatly...
First of all - what's the point of the plot? It's not original in any means, and it has absolutely no purpose, except for boring the player with a long intro. I mean, the game has no story after that, you would have done better to simply remove it -.-
The upgrades are pointless or unbalanced. What's the reason for more pixels or pixel magnet, when the progress is adjusted by your level anyway? It's just a waste of points you could spend for something better! Piercing and critical? 20% chance is way too low for total of 15 points, there's absolutely no reason for investing in those...
Also, the enemy that shoots arrows in 4 direction when you shoot it - you can't honestly believe a player would be able to dodge that? You can't even refister what are you shooting!

EpicShadow responds:

I wish you had played the game more, you're horribly wrong about a lot.

First off, leveling up your magnet and pixel drop is part of a recovery strategy. Leveling up completely restores your health, it's a great combination to quickly recover and climb the levels at a fast pace.

Second, piercing is extremely valuable for building a large chain (huge score bonus), as well as defeating the large number of mini grunts that explode out of the Vessels.

Critical hits do massive damage, so every bit there helps, especially when combined with fire rate.

As for the Fumes that shoot in all directions, they don't do that from firing at them, they do that when they get too close to you.

It's clear you barely played the game, so it's unfortunate you left such a long review with so little understanding of how it works. Thanks for playing either way, hopefully my response clears up some of your issues.
